The Emotions was formed in 1958 by Joe Favale and Tony Maltese. Recently discharged from the Navy Joe began singing with a group from lower Manhattan called The Moments. After a couple of years of performing but having no luck getting a record contract they disbanded. At the same time Tony Maltese's group, The Runarounds decided to call it quits. One night while singing Doo-Wop harmonies together in Maple Lanes bowling alley in Brooklyn they decided to join forces and start a new group. They enlisted the services of Dom Colurra, Larry Cusamano and Joe Nigro. They called themselves The Runarounds, and acquired a personal manager named Henry Boye. A year later they changed their name to The Emotions and got together to rehearse five nights a week in the back of "The Pink And Blue" beauty parlor on Nostrand Avenue. Kids from all over the neighborhood would gather every night at the beauty parlor to enjoy their Doo-Wop harmonies.Their big break came in 1962 when they landed a record contract with Kapp Records. The Emotions first release, "Echo" won "Murray The K's pick hit of the week" contest and went on to become a giant hit, appearing in the top 10 on Billboard and Cashbox's top forty within a short time. In 1963 "The Emotions" signed with 20th Century Fox and released "Story Untold". Within two weeks the record broke into the top 10.In 1982 Joe Favale re-formed the group to record an album for Columbia'’s "Ambient Sound" label. Now called Joe Favale & The Emotions, the group consisting of Joe Favale, Joe Cavanna, George Winter, Vic Guzman, and Carmine Laietta have been performing ever since. With over 40 years of experience entertaining audiences with their beautiful harmony, crowd pleasing song selection, and hilarious humor they constantly receive standing ovations and audiences asking for more. They’'ve performed at: PNC Arts Center - Holmdel NJ, American Music Theater - Lancaster PA, Northfork Westbury Music Fair - Westbury NY, Atlantic City Convention Center, Meadowlands Race Track - East Rutherford NJ, Patchogue Theater - Patchogue NY, Lyman Auditorium - East Haven CT, Westport Playhouse - Westport CT.Following are comments from audience members after enjoying their performances: "Saw you guys for the first time last evening. JOE FAVALELEAD SINGER& TOP TENOR At the age of 14 Joe fell in love with the sound of vocal group harmony when he bought his first 45 rpm record. A song called, "Three Coins in the Fountain", by a group called The Four Aces. So entranced was he with the sound of harmony that he used to spend hours with a tape recorder singing along with his records and blending in as if he was one of the members of the group. "That's how I learned to sing harmony." quotes Joe. While in The Navy his bunk mate was a guitar player who also liked to sing and they spent hours each night entertaining their buddies singing harmony. After being discharged from the service he met some one at work who mentioned that he sang with a group called The Moments and they were looking for a lead singer. Jumping at the opportunity to fulfill his life long dream Joe joined the group and rehearsed with them 3 nights a week under the Manhattan Bridge. After a year the group broke up and Joe thought his singing career was over. Fortunately, that same year he met Tony Maltese in Maple Lanes, a bowling alley in Brooklyn, and they decided to form The Emotions. He wrote "Echo", and most of the other songs The Emotions recorded through the years.While singing with The Emotions, Joe also wrote and produced records by female vocalist, Little Fay, and a group called The Exterminators. He quit the business in1970 and started singing and writing again when The Emotions regrouped in 1982. When asked what he misses most about the early days Joe responds "The ability to twirl the front of my hair to create that great 50's curl that all the guys back then had."

CARMINE LAIETTA LEAD SINGER& TOP TENORIt all started on the streets of Little Italy back in the late 50's and early 60's. Carmine would sing in the church choir and as he got older, his high school chorus. While hanging out on the street corners during this time, he listened to different neighborhood acappella groups. One group in particular impressed him, The Sinceres. "They were my greatest influence" says Carmine. Because of this group, he became interested in Doo Wop Harmony. By the age of 14, he was singing in a group called The Four Jades. Later, he became a member of The Castells. While with this group, they competed and won the Manhattan and New York City Championships for Vocal Harmony in 1968. A short time later, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army until 1970. he didnt sing again until 1987. That year he ran into some childhood singing buddies who were in a group called The Neighborhood. Ross Ascuitto, the founder of The Neighborhood, was running an Oldies Show at Staten Island College. The Castells had not performed for 20 years and Ross was responsible for reuniting them for his show. "It was a great experience", says Carmine, and a short time later, Ross asked him if he would join The Neighborhood. He accepted and started singing with them in 1988. In December 2005, he received a call from George Winter of The Emotions and said they were looking for a lead singer and asked him to join. "I was flattered and humbled by the request" quotes Carmine. He eagerly auditioned for the part and got the job. The Emotions are a wonderful and very professional group of guys. "I want to thank The Emotions for this great opportunity and in helping my dreams come true. It's a honor to sing with them. I consider myself very lucky to be doing what I love to do, working on the same stage with many of my idols and making musical magic through Doo Wop Harmony." "Carmine brings an exuberance and joy to his singing that is infectious" says Joe Favale, one of the original members of The Emotions. "Coupled with his fantastic voice we feel just as lucky to have him as a part of the group.".

GEORGE WINTERLEAD SINGER& SECOND TENOR George's interest in music began at an early age listening to The Make Believe Ballroom Time with Martin Block. A top 40 radio show his mom had on all the time. "I got interested in Rock & Roll one night when I accidentally tuned my transistor radio to Alan Freeds Moondog show and 'Speedo' by the Cadillacs was playing. I was instantly hooked" explains George. He was so hooked that he scraped together every penny he had, 68¢ to be exact, and bought his first 45. "Why do fools fall in love", by The Teenagers. In 1957 he started singing with a group of guys from a local school yard. They liked their sound so much that they decided to name themselves The Blendairs and try to get a record contract. In 1957 they signed with Tin Pan Alley Records and recorded 2 originals called "Repetition" & "Our love is like the wind". In 1983 when The Emotions were looking for a second tenor he auditioned and was chosen to join the group. His terrific voice and second tenor stylings are one of the reasons the group's harmony blend is so smooth and beautiful to listen to. Quotes George, "One of my most thrilling experience was performing at the PNC Center in NJ (formally called The Garden State Arts Center.) Looking up at the giant screen above the stage and seeing the delight in the eyes of the audience was a moment Ill never forget."

VIC GUZMANLEAD SINGER& BARITONEVictor Guzmans interest in music began at an early age listening to his father and friends Playing and singing during the holidays back in Puerto Rico. His family moved to the United States and resided on Ellery Street in Brooklyn when he was 10 years old where he learned the English in school. At the age of 14 yrs old his family moved to Decal & Myrtle in Williamsburg where he met a bunch of guys who had a singing group named The Blendairs. The group consisted of George Winter, and three friends named Costy, Sunny, and Andy. He loved their sound and was delighted when they asked him to sing with them. He agreed immediately.Around that time The Blendairs were looking to get a record contract and got lucky when they signed with Tin Pan Alley Records. In 1957 they recorded two original songs called "Repetition" & "Our Love is like the Wind". The record got little airplay but didn't reach the charts. Soon after the group parted and went their separate ways. In 1958 he joined another group called The Delorions. People who heard them sing said they sounded like The Flamingos. They rehearsed weekly at their manager's house where Vic had the pleasure of singing with Frankie Lymon. The group lasted for 5 years then parted company when a number of them quit to get married and they started their own families. In 1989 Vics best friend George Winter, now singing with The Emotions, called and asked if he wanted to sing again. His initial answer was "no" but his beautiful wife, Cathy, insisted he give it a third tried. He auditioned and 24 hours later received a phone call from George saying welcome to The Emotions. You can hear his wonderful baritone voice on The Emotions CD, "Take Two". Says Vic, "My most memorable moments were singing at Westbury Music Fair, and the PNC Art Center, in New Jersey with some of the greatest groups of the fifties sixties". When asked if he ever thinks of quitting he says "As long as there are people out there who want to hear Doo-Wop music I'll just keep on going. "
